Lenten Soup Supper & Song Wednesdays starting March 13, 2019

Join us in the journey. Lent (read more here) is a time to ponder our relationship with God, the place we are in, the place we are going. In an age old tradition, we participate with simple soup suppers and song.

We begin our evenings with a FREE 6 pm simple supper of soup, bread, and salad (to meet healthy dietary needs).

Worship begins at 7 pm. It will be a simple sung prayer service, Holden Evening Prayer (listen here for a sample) which is easy to follow or participate in and lovely to listen to. It is a brief service- lasting only about 30 minutes and will allow for quiet reflection afterward.

All are welcome. Welcome to the journey.

Ashes to Go March 6th 7-9 am and 1-3 pm

Ash Wednesday Hope will offer “ashes to go” in the parking lot of Hope.

Grab a free coffee refill with us and take a moment to begin Ash Wednesday with a reminder of our mortality as we enter into the time of Lent to ponder our lives and God’s accompaniment with us.

Many people like the ability to go to worship on Ash wednesday, but also to bear their ashes through the day. We will offer Ashes for your forehead in a easy to access drive through or walk up area of our parking lot.

Then consider joining us for worship later at 7 pm and throughout Lent on Wednesdays with free soup supper at 6 and Holden Evening Prayer Service at 7.

Ashes to Go Schedule:
7-8:30 and 1-2:30 pm

Mystery Valentine Dinner

Tired of dealing with reservations and wait staff that rush you on Valentine’s Day? Want to have some fun, eat, relax, and support a good cause instead?

Join us for a lovely candlelit Valentine’s Mystery Dinner Fundraiser at Hope Lutheran Church. Seats are limited- because you will not be rushed!

Dinner includes appetizer, a choice of spaghetti or chicken piccata, plus salad, garlic or french bread, and desert for only $20 per person.

While dining, you will be part of a mystery dinner- “who done it.” Bring your own wine and have it corked and poured for only a $5 fee.

Tickets may be purchased through the main office or following Sunday Services.

ALL Proceeds go to helping local families through our CarePortal program. read more here to learn about how we support CarePortal and how it cares for those in need locally.

New Website…. Please excuse our messes….

Welcome to our new website and address. We are a congregation who realizes we need to change every so often (no bad Lutheran jokes, eh?) and it was time to update our webaddress and site. And here you are!
Most of our pages are filling in, but we have a vibrant ministry and it will take some time to reflect all of it here. So please don’t mind our mess if you find a page under construction and seeming to miss description, information, or photos.

If something really important seems to be missing, you can still visit our old site for the time being, at hopelutheranriversideca.com but please be aware we are no longer updating that site as of Jan 1, 2019.

Thanks for visiting and we welcome your input. If you have photos to share with us for the site, please send them to: office@hoperiverside.org.

Thanks!

Advent Blessings,

Hope Staff

A place to call Home

Finding a worship community can be hard. You may have experienced a painful moment in another church or religion. At Hope, we recognize we are imperfect beings and that many people are just hungry for a place where they are not just safe, but can grow. A place to call home. Come and give us a try. You just might find what you were hoping for.

The Longest Night ~ Dec 21st. 8:00 p.m.

A Christmas Worship

December 21st is the longest night of the year.  It is symbolic of a sense of grief or pain that many experience during the holiday season.  It is difficult to find joy in the midst of tears and pain.  The Longest Night worship is a time to bless and be blessed, to find comfort and peace as the night loses the battle and the light begins to win again.

8 pm, candlelit service with communion
